Heraldo Muñoz, a scholar, diplomat, and politician, has served as, among numerous other posts, Chile’s foreign minister, Chile’s ambassador to the United Nations, and assistant secretary general of the UN Development Program. An active participant in the dissident movement against the Pinochet dictatorship (1973–1989), he was cofounder of the Party for Democracy and a member of the executive committee of the “No” campaign that brought the regime to an end.
